Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue collection for February 2024 stood at ₹1,68,337 crore, registering a healthy year-on-year growth of 12.5 percent, reflecting continued strength in economic activity and tax compliance. The growth was driven by a 13.9 percent increase in GST from domestic transactions and an 8.5 percent rise from imports. Net GST revenue for the month, after refunds, was ₹1.51 lakh crore, showing a robust growth of 13.6 percent over February 2023. For the cumulative period of FY 2023–24 up to February, gross GST collections reached ₹18.40 lakh crore, marking an annual growth of 11.7 percent, while net collections rose by 13 percent to ₹16.36 lakh crore. The average monthly gross collection during the year increased to ₹1.67 lakh crore, surpassing the previous year’s average. All major GST components—CGST, SGST, IGST and cess—posted positive growth, underscoring broad-based revenue performance. During February 2024, the Centre settled ₹77,809 crore to CGST and SGST from IGST collections, strengthening the fiscal position of both the Centre and States. State-wise data showed positive revenue growth across most States and Union Territories, highlighting sustained consumption and improved compliance under the GST regime.
